The Gloom In The Corner unleash snarling new single and video “Assassination Run”
Brace yourself for the return of the demonic prodigal son, as Melbourne cinemacore act The Gloom In The Corner have unveiled a snarling new single Assassination Run, also heralding the return of Sherlock A. Bones back into the band's lyrical lore.
Accompanied by a fittingly macabre music video, directed by Sam Kriesel, Assassination Run once again expands The Gloom In The Corner's ever-burgeoning Cinematic Universe alongside caustic riffs, pummeling beats, dynamic shifts and crushing breakdowns, helmed with gusto by Mike Arthur's commanding vocals.
Speaking on their brand new single, the band share: "Calling all cowboys, cowgirls, assassins and rogues - Sherlock A. Bones is back in The Gloom In The Corner’s new single Assassination Run. The band’s titular demonic mascot is back and on the hunt for those who have wronged him after the death of a close friend in the story, and the cowboy takes no time enacting out his vengeance."

Introducing Sherlock Bones into The Gloom In The Corner lore via the band's 2016 debut album Fear Me, and cementing his existence via their sophomore 2019 EP Flesh & Bones, the bloodthirsty and misanthropic skull-faced main character channeled explorations of narcissism and violence, conceptually complementing the sonic menace on full display. A demonic entity, and the physical manifestation of GCU protagonist Jay's "gloom", the return of Sherlock Bones in 2025 follows The Gloom In The Corner's 2024 single The Jericho Protocol, which diverted listeners to the afterlife of character Rachel Barker while also doling out haunting and operatic melodies amid dimension-destroying breakdowns.
Hailing from Melbourne, The Gloom In The Corner have spent years carefully curating their theatrical and immersive take on metalcore, with their trademark cinemacore and in-depth lore turning heads globally. A band fluent in exploring the depths of humanity and delivering conceptually-fueled creations with razor-like dexterity, The Gloom In The Corner have previously shared stages with the likes of Asking Alexandria, Wage War, Ice Nine Kills, The Plot In You, Chelsea Grin and Fit For A King, along with commanding stages at Good Things Festival and UNIFY Gathering.
In 2025 The Gloom In The Corner embarked on an extensive North American run supporting Canadian deathcore act AngelMaker, and recently joined Make Them Suffer for a huge Australian regional run. The Gloom In The Corner will close out the year supporting Aviana in Europe and the UK, and will join Parkway Drive, Northlane and many more making history in 2026 performing at Hellbound, the first ever Australian metal cruise setting sail next October.
